Roelof Lotriet was promoted to cellarmaster of Delheim Wine Estate in Stellenbosch in May 2022.
A highly experienced winemaker, Roelof started his career at Delheim in 2018 when he was appointed as the head winemaker.
With vintages at Waterford, Tokara, Rust en Vrede, and Guardian Peak – and a stint in Bordeaux – Roelof says he jumped at the head winemaker position at Delheim:
"The reason why Delheim was so appealing to me goes back to my time in France. All the chateaus are family owned and run. A bottle of wine doesn't just represent a block of vineyards, it represents a family."
Delheim is family owned and run, making decisions together as a family which Roelof feels part of. It's a different way of looking at wine, it's more than just a product.
Roelof holds a BSc degree in Viticulture and Enology from Stellenbosch University.
