Regenerative carbon farmer
Angus McIntosh, aka Farmer Angus, is a regenerative carbon farmer at Spier.
Angus McIntosh started farming at Spier in 2009. He practices regenerative agriculture through the rotational grazing of animals such as pigs, cattle and chickens on Spier’s certified organic pastures. The animals never receive growth hormones or routine antibiotics, while the land is naturally enriched, and never given artificial fertiliser or pesticides.
In 2014 he became the first farmer in the world to be paid carbon credits for increasing the carbon in the soils of my pastures where my cattle grazed. This was repeated in 2017 and 2020.
After years of telling other farmers that they could also participate in this benefit of regenerative agriculture I decided it was time to help farmers turn their carbon into a crop, hence the formation in September 2022 of FARMER ANGUS CARBON.
