Her passion for the winelands and surrounds, along with her interest in science, extroverted personality and desire not to be office-bound, led to her decision to pursue winemaking as a career – a decision she has never regretted. Hanri proceeded to study BSc Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch University and graduated in 2015.
She joined the Kleine Zalze team in 2017 as assistant winemaker, and has since been promoted to winemaker.
In 2024, she placed in the Top 10 of the inaugural Fedex Next Generation Awards, convened by Winemag.co.za. She won this esteemed award for the Project Z Alvarinho 2022 and Project Z Chenin Blanc 2022, which both scored 94 points.
