Raised in Paarl, with an already close connection to the wine industry (his mother worked for Nederburg), he obtained a Business and Commerce degree at Stellenbosch University before switching to winemaking.
Since graduating, he has completed harvests worldwide, including New Zealand, France, Australia, California, and even India. An extremely versatile winemaker, he is especially well-known for his deft touch with Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc.
He lives on the farm with his wife and two daughters. He has developed a deep understanding of the terroir, the different blocks, and how this special valley contributes to the expression of the vineyards and wines' quality.
