"We believe in producing wines that are true to the varietal as well as to the centuries-old South African wine tradition," says Belinda.

Wine is very much a product of the soil which nourished the vines. The soils high up on the slopes of the Paarl mountains are particularly well suited to red varieties, resulting in wines that offer a harmonious balance of complex, earthy/fruity flavours. Ruitersvlei's red varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsaut, Pinotage and Merlot.

Hot, dry days and cooling evening breezes drifting in from the Atlantic Ocean create the ideal conditions for flavourful, powerful red wines. Only the very best are considered for Ruitersvlei Reserve wines. Working together, Ruitersvlei's winemaker and viticulturist identify exceptional vineyard blocks that will produce wines of outstanding quality. Only limited quantities are made. Carefully nutured, matured for up to a year in new oak barrels to achieve the ideal balance of wood and fruit, these often-awarded wines grace the tables of connoisseurs

The currant winemaking team is Reino Kruger and Jaco van Niekerk. Two young and vibrant guys who are quickly becoming the envy of many wine farms. The team is already getting great results with their style of wine being produced at Ruitersvlei and already some international awards are becoming part of the Ruitersvlei trademark.

Winemaker’s philosophy:
“To produce quality wines at affordable prices and to produce this quality year after year.”
