Neil Moorhouse is a dynamic young winemaker of the world-renowned award-winning Zorgvliet Wines.

He graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and went on to earn a National Diploma in Agriculture from the Cape Technikon incorporating Elsenburg College of Agriculture in 2000.

Although younger than most acclaimed winemakers in South Africa, Neil boasts considerable work experience spanning the FMCG, hospitality, financial, insurance and engineering industries. Part of this work experience was gained in the UK where he worked at Oddbins Wine Shop in London and the International Wine and Spirits Challenge as well as in South Africa where he has worked for Flagestone Winery prior to joining Zorgvliet Wines as Assistant Winemaker in January 2003.

He has since worked his way up to the highly demanding position of Winemaker producing a range of award-winning Zorgvliet flagship wines including the Silver Myn, Le Pommier, Spring Grove and Alluvia Wine Estate’s ILKA ranges.

Neil has skillfully contributed towards the success of Zorgvliet Wine Estate’s award-winning wines such as the Silver Myn Cabernet Franc 2003 (scooped a Gold Medal at Veritas 2004 and earned 4½ stars in the John Platter South African Wines 2005), Silver Myn Cabernet Franc 2004 (Silver Medal at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards 2005), Silver Myn Petit Verdot 2003 (Double Gold Medal at Veritas 2004, Silver Medal at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards 2004 and earned 4 stars in the John Platter South African Wines 2005) and Silver Myn Petit Verdot 2004 (Gold Medal at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards 2005) among others.
