Wines & Vineyards

With careful and integrated farming methods Bellevue has succeeded in boasting with some of the oldest vineyards in South Africa.

Bellevue’s vineyards comprise of Cabernet franc, Chenin Blanc, Cinsaut, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinotage, Merlot, Chardonnay, Muscat d’Alexandrie, Pinot noir, Sauvignon blanc and Semillon.

With careful and integrated farming methods Bellevue has succeeded in boasting with some of the oldest vineyards in South Africa with many of the vineyards 40+ years old. This makes for a heritage in its own right! Together with the ripe age of the vines and the fact that many blocks are bush vines, the result is lower yields while the vines deliver grapes with concentration in flavour and pure, elegant fruit characters.

Continuing to follow strict IPW and Wieta guidelines, there is still a long future for Bellevue’s gentle oldies.

Some of the oldest blocks include Cinsaut planted in 1952, Pinotage planted in 1953 and Chenin Blanc in 1976.

"Good wine is made in the vineyard" - has been the philosophy regarding wine quality on Bellevue over all the years. With minimum interference in the cellar, the role of the winemaker is to preserve the pure fruit present in the grapes and through careful oak strategy, make wines that are elegant, balanced and uniquely exquisite.
