Peter de Wet grew-up on De Wetshof Estate and was schooled at Bishops in Cape Town. He followed in the footsteps of his father Danie. Peter's passion for wine-making led him to the Geisenheim Institue of Viticulture and Oenology in Germany where he studied the various aspects of wine-making and vineyard management.

In order to get a grounding in the wine-making aspects of a variety of grapes, Peter has to date worked at Domaine Bertagna (Burgundy), Domaine Laroche (Chablis), Nicolas Maillart (Champagne), Vignoble Despagne (Bordeaux) and Weingut Dr. Deinhard (Germany). He also spent time in Napa working with internationally renowned viticulturalist Dr. Phil Freese and has been a runner-up in the Diner's Club Young Winemaker of the Year Awards.

Besides specialising in De Wetshof's signature grape variety, Chardonnay, Peter produces the Estate's Methode Cap Classique sparkling wine range and is also in charge of the farm's red wine project which includes the Thibault Red Blend, the latest release from De Wetshof and already an icon wine.

Peter regularly travels to other wine regions in the world, and when he is not in the vineyards or the cellar he relaxes by dabbling in the stock market and investigating latest trends in technology.
