Michelle Theron is the head of gastronomy at Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate, where she is shaping a new era of honest luxury rooted in simplicity, seasonality and sustainability. Michelle’s food journey began on a family farm near Gansbaai, where she learned early that the best food is simple, honest, and made with care. Refined through more than two decades in leading kitchens, including Hazendal Wine Estate and Pierneef à La Motte, as well as Michelin-starred restaurants in the Netherlands, Michelle brings a style that is both sophisticated and deeply grounded in the South African table.
Since joining the estate in 2025, she has reimagined its culinary direction to reflect harmony between food, wine and place, drawing on regenerative farm produce and local suppliers to create generous, beautiful simplicity that leaves guests nourished, inspired and connected to the land.
