Nathan Valentine joined the Simonsig winemaking team in July 2025, taking on the role of winemaker responsible for red wines, Chenin Blanc, and The Grapesmith collection. Previously, he worked as a winemaker at Villiera Wines for nine years.
Nathan Valentine's mom grew up in the Elsenburg farming community, and his dad grew up on Kanonkop Wine Estate – a long family connection to the wine industry.
He graduated from the Elsenburg BA Agric program, specializing in winemaking, in 2013. In his student years, he worked in the Villiera tasting room and developed a love for Cap Classique. After graduating, Nathan worked vintages at De Morgenzon, Chandon (California) Villiera, Domaine Grier (France), and completed the Cape Wine Academy certificate course.
In his spare time, Nathan can be found power lifting and has been known to play a rugby game or two.
