Wine Maker, Francois Weich, who joined Robertson Winery in 1997, is responsible for the blending of all uncertified wines including the Natural Sweets. He also does final preparations on all cultivar wines for bottling, and plays a vital role in fulfilling the long and short term needs of the winery.

Francois trained at Elsenburg Agricultural College which was followed by seven years at Rooiberg, six years at Darling Cellars and four years at Vredendal Winery, before joining Robertson Winery.

When it comes to the South African wine business, it is the diversity, resourcefulness and tenacity of the industry that has inspired him, but when it comes to the Robertson Winery values, it is the company’s commitment towards their growers and workforce, which stands out.

In terms of valuable career lessons, Francois believes that you are never too old to learn and that age has a way of bring about a better understanding of the industry’s unique challenges.
