DP Burger

Cellar Master
GlenWood Vineyards
Dp Burger, Cellar Master at GlenWood has been on the farm for 28 years.

Having now been established for 35 years, GlenWood has continued to distinguish itself as one of the leading Chardonnay producers in Franschhoek and the Western Cape. Priding ourselves on only using grapes from our property, the Grand Duc Chardonnay block is now 34 years old and continues to produce outstanding vintages.

Consistent with our valuing of continuity, “DP” has now been GlenWood Cellar Master for 28 years and has been intimately involved in all aspects of the development and has undoubtedly contributed to GlenWood’s success. DP is a fifth generation Franschhoek citizen with his great-great-grandfather having witnessed and recorded in his diary the departure of the last elephant from the Franschhoek
valley in 1868. The diary is today on display in the Franschhoek museum. Aside from managing GlenWood, DP’s next greatest interest is deep sea fishing in which he captains the Western Province team.

“Simple, natural, quality” remains our philosophy with Quality taking centre-stage in the past year. The focus has been on the continuous improvement of all processes across the farm, cellar and Tasting Room to deliver products and services which exceed our customers’ expectations.
