As a garagiste winemaker Charles sourced his grapes from various grape growers including Zevenwacht (Since 2009). “When I saw the quality of the grapes, the amazing terroir and the passion for winemaking at Zevenwacht, I felt at home - A big operation with a small heart. My kind of people!”
The rest is history, Charles joined the Zevenwacht family in 2014 as the Assistant winemaker. His skill set contributes greatly to the amazing wines Zevenwacht produces.
His philosophy of minimalistic interference and a no-compromise attitude is what gives him the edge and this is evident in the wines. “It is all about preserving the fruit and guiding the vineyards to give a winemaker the perfect grapes with a perfect balance”
Recent visits to Australia, France and Spain widens the horizon and contributes to Zevenwacht’s vision of producing world-class wines.
Charles believes that being a winemaker is a not a job, it is a lifestyle!
