Adrian sees his acquisition of Oldenburg as coming full circle and a return to the place of comfort he knew from his childhood. Born on an adjacent property, Adrian left South Africa at age 3 but frequently returned to the Banhoek Valley to visit his grandmother on Oldenburg.
In 2003, he decided that the time had come to bring the Oldenburg vineyards back to life. The chance of capturing Oldenburg's enormous potential by producing high-quality wines seemed like an opportunity too good to miss.
