Philip Taberer shares ownership of Avontuur Estate with his brother Michael. The family-run stud and wine farm was acquired by their father, Tony Taberer, in 1983. "My father was looking to move out of Zimbabwe as signs of demise were imminent," Philip says. "With his love for horses and horse racing, Tony Taberer wanted a place in the Western Cape where he could move his horses to." Following his death, the farm was taken over by Tony’s two sons. Under their leadership, Avontuur continues to develop, especially within the wine industry.
