Wayve Kolevsohn

Wayve Kolevsohn – the first woman in Africa to be certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers – is the head sommelier of Ellerman House.

Cape-Town born Wayve Kolevsohn graduated from the Cape Town Hotel School and headed off to London where she started her career at a Michelin starred restaurant, Chez Bruce.

Upon her return and after completing a post-graduate degree in management, she spent the next few years as the restaurant manager of the world-famous Le Quartier Francais’s former restaurant Tasting Room and then as the head sommelier of The Test Kitchen in Cape Town.

In 2015 she moved to Asia where she managed the wine department as head sommelier for the LVMH-owned luxury resort Cheval Blanc Randheli in the Maldives. In 2018, she completed a 5-week harvest internship at Fable Mountain Vineyards.

Wayve was the first woman in Africa to pass the Court of Master Sommeliers.

Currently, she is the head sommelier of the ultra-luxurious Ellerman House hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town.
