Sylvain Kapompa, the Distell Inter-Hotel Challenge (IHC)'s reigning Wine Steward of the Year (2021), is based at the luxury Ellerman House. From day one, his calm, focused energy has impressed Manuel Cabello, the boutique hotel’s sommelier and operations manager. What hasn’t hurt either is Sylvain’s expertise in relaxing guests and encouraging them to learn more about South African wine.
“I am a humble and calm person,” says Sylvain Kapompa. “I believe I am diplomatic and wise for my years. In five years’, time I see myself opening my own tourism company in partnership with a hotel. I would love to visit Canada.”
