Natasha Jacka was a chef for several years before she went on to discover winemaking. She began working at Cape Point Vineyards in January 2017 and the following year she began studying at Elsenburg Agricultural College. She graduated in 2020 and it was during her final year of studying that she planted the two vineyard blocks in Noordhoek. In 2021 she began Alinea and she made a Sauvignon Blanc from St Helena Bay in the West Coast and a Vermentino from Stellenbosch.
In 2024 she won the inaugural FedEx Next Generation Awards, with her Alinea Sauvignon Blanc 2021 judged best wine overall. Convened by Winemag.co.za, the wine competition identifies emerging winemaking talent.
