We at Wildekrans take our place in the community of Bot River very seriously. As an employer in the area the well-being, education and social development of our employees and their families is our foremost concern.
Our employees receive regular talks on health, family issues and substance abuse.
Our farm staff, have proudly planted their own block of Pinotage on the estate, which they tend with care. Their first harvest is going to be a special occasion for all.
They also run various projects on the estate one of which is recycling redundant vines into packaged fire wood. All proceeds of these sales go towards their social club, which in turn organises fun outings for their families.
Projects this year have included an exciting soccer tournament, which provided many locals with a fun filled Saturday. The winning team are now proudly sponsored by Wildekrans and play in their smart new soccer kit. We also sponsored the De Rust Futura Academy with a new rugby kit and below is a letter of thanks from the school.
The children of Bot River Primary School spent the day at the estate recently. A scarecrow making competition was organised and some extremely creative and interesting scarecrows emerged from the piles of old clothes, wire, straw etc. The jubilant grade seven winners will be off on a trip to the Cape Town Aquarium soon. These scarecrows now stand proudly protecting our vineyards!!
