Our Community

The broader Robertson community, which includes satellite towns such as Bonnievale, McGregor and Ashton, offers the typical country hospitality for which South Africa has become renowned.

The magnificent Breede River – which means wide river – runs through our valley.
It is fed from streams along the length of the Langeberg and Riviersonderend fold-mountains that stretch from the southern coast into the hinterland past Worcester and Tulbagh.
Besides the expanding wine community in the region – there is also a strong fruit growing sector, as well as dairy and horse breeding fraternities.

A host of community activities take place annually, including the Robertson Food and Wine Festival and the Robertson Young Wine Show. As with all South Africans we are sports mad and when major international events take place, we do what we have always done – get together and support our national teams, normally with a traditional braai (barbeque) included in proceedings.

It all sounds like a bed of roses, but we are also aware that there are people less fortunate than ourselves in our midst and we take this matter seriously and are continually working to alleviate this situation.
