A biography of Jacques Bruwer

Jacques has initiated new winemaking techniques to the estate and is in the forefront of innovation both with regard to new equipment and new vinification technologies.

Jacques Bruwer studied winemaking and horticulture for several years at the prestigious Elsenburg Agricultural College in Stellenbosh. After gaining experience in both France and Germany, he joined his father, André as winemaker on the farm in 1990. Gradually André shifted his attention more and more to the vineyards while Jacques focused on the vinification side of the business – a truly complementary team.

Jacques has initiated new winemaking techniques to the estate and is in the forefront of innovation both with regard to new equipment and new vinification technologies. And although still young he has certainly had his share of recognition – an increasing number of medals for his wines, both nationally and internationally, positioning Bon Courage as a leading recipient of medals and awards at the Veritas and Young Wine Show competitions. It is of particular satisfaction to Jacques that his own “pet wine” – the Cap Classique (Champagne) – he has won several Veritas Gold medals over the years and the Cap Classique Jacques Bruére Brut Reserve was the winner of the Cap Classique Challenge 2004.
