About Stettyn Cellar

At the eastern foothills of the Klein Drakenstein mountains, 15km north of the town of Villiersdorp, lies Stettyn Cellar and its vineyards.

A variety of slopes together with a vast selection of soil types in combination with both innovation and years of tradition, have contributed to creating these signature handcrafted wines.

Modern history of Stettyn started in 1719 when the original farm was granted to free-burghers Cloete and Radyn, whom had ancestral links with Stettin in former Prussia. Vineyards on the farms of Stettyn, Jonkersrivier and De Hoek have been the main source of the cellar's wine since its establishment in 1963, even though a winemaking tradition on the individual farms have existed for much longer.

Stettyn Cellar have, in recent years, transformed itself form a traditional supplier to the wholesale trade, to a dynamic market driven wine business. Varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage and Semillon are becoming increasingly prominent in our product range and are a key aspect of our future vision.

The area is blessed with a favourable climate for the production of quality grapes, characterized by cold winters inducive to effective vine dormancy and moderate summers aiding long slow ripening.

A small team of dedicated wine farmers, guided by winemaker Albie Treurnicht, has combined a quality first approach with innovative winemaking and is rapidly transforming Stettyn Cellar into an outward looking wine business.
