Vineyards and Terroir

Since inception, Cabrière has only grown the two noble varietals of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The property has 30 ha under vines and source additional grapes from neighbouring farms and adjacent wine growing regions.

The Cabrière farm is situated in a valley between the tributaries of the river, creating top layers of soil sandy, while bottom layers are alluvial. The higher property’s soil consists of Table Mountain Sandstone at different stagesof weathering, which reminded Achim of the soil in Burgundy.

Franschhoek has a higher than average rainfall and lower temperatures than the neighbouring towns of Stellenbosch and Paarl.
