* President Nelson Mandela selected Rust en Vrede to be served at the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize dinner in Oslo.
* One year later, he presented Rust en Vrede with the South African Export Achievement medal.
* During the 1996 World Wine Championships in Chicago (USA), Rust en Vrede was awarded the Gold medal for the best blended red wine.
* In 2000, Rust en Vrede is became the first South African producer to have its 1996 Rust en Vrede Estate Blend, selected as a top 100 wine in the world - Wine Spectator Magazine.
* During the run of 2001 international wine writers, to the likes of Robert Parker, James Molesworth, Steve Tanzer and Michael Fridjon, consistently rated Rust en Vrede 90+, confirming that Rust en Vrede is a wine of the highest quality.
* Gulfstream Aerospace, the world's leading manufacturer of corporate jets, selected Rust en Vrede wines to be served on their aircraft.
* A joint venture between golfing superstar Ernie Els and Rust en Vrede, lead to the launch of Ernie Els Wines - a classic Bordeaux blend.
* Wine Spectator nominates the 1998 Rust en Vrede Estate Blend as one of the top 100 wines in the world for a remarkable second time.
* The Estate Blend was awarded a gold medal with Rust en Vrede Estate receiving the South African best of Nation award at the 2002 San Francisco International Wine Competition recently held.

The Underground cellar of the Estate was the first of its kind for a privately owned South African Estate. Designed by renowned architect Mr Gawie Fagan , the perfectly controlled environment is of invaluable benefit in the production and bottle maturation of our unique wines.
