Nederburg Private Bin R163 Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Heady perfume of black berry fruit, cedar spice and a subtle whiff of dried lavender. In the mouth it is gymnastic but muscular: sleek and satiny in texture but with power underpinning it, adding an inky depth. That it has generous black cassis, spiced plum and even tea leaf flavours in abundance goes without saying. With lovely interplay of all the parts – fruit, acid and oak – it is refined, elegant and structured. Beautifully poised, it lingers long.

Colour: Deep ruby red
Nose: Aromas of sweet oriental spices and aniseed, complemented by rich red-fleshed plums and prominent cedar wood, nutmeg and white pepper.
Taste: Juicy, sweet plum and cherry characters dominate on the palate with hints of white pepper and vanilla pod lingering on the aftertaste. The wine is medium- to full- bodied with a well-crafted tannin backbone.

The Shiraz contributes elegance to the palate, while a small percentage of Petit Verdot adds color, spice, and complexity to the blend. Aromas of black berries and plums are dominant, with subtle sweet notes of fruitcake and dark toffee in the background. Cloves and integrated roasted oak notes are also present. The palate is medium-bodied with soft, lively tannins and a lingering berry finish.
