Tempting herb notes overlay riper plum and berry fruit aromas. In the mouth hedgerow fruit or berries and plum flavours are joined by deeper, darker inky nuances of cocoa and cedar. A deceptively soft textured palate also shows intensity with spice and earthiness and some powerful muscularity from time in oak. The tannins are integrated and add structure and grip as well as a dry, oak element to the long fruited tail. Complex and delightful, will benefit from further ageing.

Spice sprinkled cedar with rich dark fruitcake flavour. Wonderfully soft, rounded and silky palate that shows cohesion and refinement. Impressive density and concentration that doesn’t overwhelm. Nor does the oak used in the maturation of this impressive blend. Plush, comfortable and eminently rewarding with a lingering dry tail.

The wine morphs effortlessly and seamlessly into a rich and creamy macadamia-toned multi-layered mouthful. The vivid acid is beautifully juxtaposed with the integrated oak which, in turn, doesn’t dominate the gently ripe fruit. Complex, structured, fresh and succulent while also broad and long. This is superbly poised, offering immediate drinking pleasure as well as the ability to age with distinction. Elegant and confident throughout. Delightful.

Intriguing and alluring melange of fynbos, soft Agen prune, pepper, berry compote and licorice with both an earthy and floral edge. The initial impression on the palate is all ripe blue and black fruit – and the power associated with them, but then it softens and becomes altogether more tempting with deeper cocoa powder and buchu flavours. The texture and mouthfeel is velvety and smooth, so supple and seamless – as is the use of oak. The wood provides a frame or skeleton but never imposes itself. The harmony of tannin and fruit is impressive and superbly meshed. Refined, lingering tail with both licorice and lavender on the farewell. It will reward patience and good cellaring.

The same holds true for the flavour. Undoubtedly distilled litchi spirit, it’s tropically fruity with an almost Turkish Delight exoticism. It’s smooth and gentle without any harsh spirit bite or aggression. The spirit lingers long in the mouth, finishing dry yet leaving a beautiful distinct flavour memory.

Pale lemon colour, bright and clear, with a hypnotic steady stream of vigorous, fine bubbles. The nose offers up subtle orange blossom with marmalade and oyster shell nuances mingling with baked sourdough bread. Vibrant, energetic fizz with grapefruit, lemon and lime vivacity in the mouth. A trace of salinity is present too, adding to the enjoyment of the crunchy zip and vitality. It then segues into a richer, creamier, genteel and silky smooth mouthful of lees, toast and baked bread tinged with a twist of citrus zest. The maritime notes of briny sea air and oyster shell are present too. Succulent and fresh but also taut, crisp and dry. Lovely tension and restraint but with power and generosity too. Seamless integration and marvelous refinement and persistence of flavour.

A beautiful light brown colour. Ripe apricot, peach and fudge, caramel aromas which mingle with hints of leather and creamy toffee. So appealing Silky smooth and gently textured, the same flavours come through on the palate: ripe peach and apricot fruit notes with cookie dough, fudge and caramel nuances. There’s a depth of flavour and complexity to this spirit but a lightness too. Not at all harsh and truly rewarding with its long, rich finish.
