in the cellar : Last year G and G reserve was replaced by our Cellar Door concept to indicate limited release wines of exceptional quality. The Cellar Door label is unique and obviously relates to special and exclusive wine. This 2001 Pinotage is the second Villiera wine identified as worthy of Cellar Door status. It was made from a shy yielding, single, old bush vine vineyard. The fruit was picked fully ripe, to ensure ripe tannins and rich plummy fruit. It has received special treatment in terms of barrel maturation, involving a mix of new American white oak and second fill French oak barrels for 13 months. After barrel maturation the wine was re-evaluated and we decided that it had sufficient intensity and ageing potential to be awarded Cellar Door status.
