Broken Stone Shiraz 2003

The wine displays typical smoky and spicy aromas on the nose, leaving little doubt about the variety. Ripe raspberries, cherries, and vanilla and coffee can be noted as well. The palate is very modern being dry but with an overlay of sweet fruit such as ripe plums, mulberry and black current and interestingly some eucalyptus. Also note the butterscotch and vanilla aromas from the American oak. The palate has good depth and complexity but is still very smooth giving the wine excellent approachability at this early stage.
