RATING 4 Stars

Angela Lloyd, ‘John Platter South African Wine Guide - 2007’
“elegantly aromatic ... viscous but with trademark light tread, purity”

Tim James, ‘grape.co.za’
“a rich, powerful wine with intense flavours but not without the forceful elegance that is characteristic of the Solms range”.

Graham Howe, ‘Upfront’
“intriguing ... a floral Muscat-style wine with a lingering, dry finish. A luscious wine for jaded palates”

Sonja Roets, ‘Franschhoek Life’
“a dry dessert wine? So different that a new classification for it was discussed”

Jenny Crwys-Williams, ‘Radio 702’
“just lovely”

Mary Jane Harris, ‘Woman & Home’
“Koloni is something totally different ... surprisingly dry. The wine has intense floral notes, hints of oak and ... it’s non-cloying.”

in the vineyard :

Koloni is the isiXhosa name for the Cape. This reflects its history of colonisation, mainly by settlers from Europe – including members of the German families Solms and Hegewisch, who arrived here in 1838 and 1904.
