Sweet cocoa, cherries and raspberries on the palate, with a delicious, juicy finish. Great balance between fruit, acid and tannin structure – good harmony.

Perfect with slow roast lamb, or lightly chargrilled steak, it would also be delicious with charcuterie or stronger-style cheeses.

in the vineyard : Essentially viewed as a blending variety, Merlot only makes up only approx 6% of all plantings in South Africa. However its potential is now becoming more widely recognised. Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely planted premium red variety in South Africa and produces some of the Cape’s highest profile red wines that compare favourably with the finest wines in the world.
about the harvest: Merlot produces a ‘plummy, lush’ style of wine. The beautiful Merlot fruit is enhanced with the great structure and longevity of Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes for this blend are sourced on Mount Rozier Estate.
