in the vineyard : The grapes were sourced from vineyards in the Durbanville, Stellenbosch, Paarl and Slanghoek regions. Planted between 1969 and 1998, the vineyards are grown in Clovelly, Hutton, Tukulu and Oakleaf soils on slopes suiting the cultivar, and are situated at altitudes ranging between 80m and 120m above sea level. Grafted onto nematode-resistant rootstock Richter 99 and 101 - 114, the vines received supplementary irrigation from an overhead sprinkler system.

about the harvest: The grapes were harvested by hand and machine at 19.5° to 21.5° Balling during January until mid-February.

in the cellar : They were crushed, settled for 36 hours at 10° C and next cool-fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 13° C for a period of two to three weeks. The wine was racked soon after alcoholic fermentation was completed. Following racking of the different components, final blending took place.
