This full bodied red wine has a spicy, peppery nose, followed by ripe plum, smoky leather, and intriguing oak enhanced flavours. It is ready for drinking now but also has good structure for aging.

This wine can be enjoyed on its own or with meat and game dishes with rich sauces.

in the vineyard : A mild spring and early summer combined with low disease pressure set the stage for a promising season and resulted in healthy grape vines. The ripening period was characteristic by intermittent periods of warm and cool weather. Characteristic wines showing varietal and seasonal expression were crafted, showing superior balance and vibrant fruit.

South Africa's vineyards are mostly situated in the Western Cape near the coast. This is the southern most region of the African continent, and has a Mediterranean type climate and diverse soils perfectly suited to quality grape production.
about the harvest: Specially chosen Shiraz grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness.

Harvest date: March 2007

in the cellar : They were crushed and the juice fermented on the skins until dry. After fermentation the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was then matured in barrels before being blended and bottled.
