Domaine Capion Le Juge 1997

Le Juge is a blend of 95% Syrah with 5% Grenache. This is full bodied, dense and compact, the colour being almost black. The bouquet is very full ripe, showing pepper, garrigue, black fruit and well integrated wood vanilla.

The palate includes everything that a dream of an excellent wine should consist of, deep fruit, balance, harmony and a very long finish. I have seen that this wine has only just begun to show it’s potential during the past 6 months, it will mature and develop superbly for many years to come. Whilst I would recommend you open a bottle or two for a sneak preview you will be amply rewarded by laying down for the future.

in the cellar : We began by selecting from 18 year old, low production vineyards where we had small berries. The wine was then fermented warm with plunging and pumping over and finished fermentation and malolactic in 100% new barrels, 50% French Oak and 50% American Oak. The maturation period was 14 months and received only a coarse filtration with NO cold stabilisation before being bottled in November 1998.
