Wine Description
This dark, ruby red wine is full bodied with intense berry and mocha flavours. A variety of aromas, ranging from black cherry, plum and black olives to chocolate, vanilla and hints of spices, lingers on the palate. This generous wine has soft, integrated tannin with a lingering, velvety aftertaste.

Winemakers' Comments
This full bodied red wine show good concentration of fruit and tannins, made in a style to age well. This is Laborie's maiden Limited Collection release and I look forward to continuing the range in the future.

Enjoy on its own at a special occasion, or with rich sirloin and rump dishes. This wine brings out special flavours with rich meat dishes.

in the vineyard : About the Area
South Africa's vineyards are mostly situated in the Western Cape near the coast. This is the southernmost region of the African continent, and has a Mediterranean type climate and diverse soils perfectly suited to quality grape production.

about the harvest: Warm weather experienced during January resulted in earlier than usual start to the harvest. These conditions lasted well into the second week of February and let to rapidly rising sugar levels.

in the cellar : Vintage Conditions
From the middle of February temperatures declined and subsequently the sugars ropped and harvesting slowed considerably. Due to the cooler conditions sugar levels increased very slowly while grape flavours developed noticeably. The ripening conditions were close to perfect for the tail-end of the crop.

The wine was matured in French and American oak for 12 - 14 months, optimising the perfect integration of wood and fruit tannins.
