Elgin Valley Red Lorry Easy Red

This is a lovely, easy drinking red wine that can be enjoyed anywhere. We call it our balcony red. It displays typical shiraz plums and pepper on the nose with just the right amount of wood. There is a nice rounded mouthfeel and balanced acidity, with plenty of fruit and a lasting finish.

Best suited to meat dishes and curries.

about the harvest: The grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness.

in the cellar : Pump-overs were done twice a day and a push through once a day for the duration of fermentation. At the completion of fermentation the wine was pressed and the 2009 was put into French Oak barrels for 15 months, where it also underwent malo-lactic fermentation. The 2010 part was put into stainless steel tanks and malolactic fermentation was inhibited. Prior to bottling the 2 vintages were blended, sulphured and sterile filtered. The wine was bottled in light weight dead-leaf green burgundy 750ml screwtop bottles.
