in the vineyard : We had a very wet and cold September /October, which pushed the growing season later than usual. Scattered hail storms and very strong winds during the flowering period, meant a season to remember, with very small, flavour intense bunches - another small yield from the Nitida vineyards. A relatively cool February, with not one day going over the 30° mark meant a lovely long ripening for Sauvignon Blanc (heat wave hit in March, during harvest). The vineyard canopy was managed to ensure our traditional pyrazines, and encourage the formation of more fruity thiols!
about the harvest: We picked from nine different blocks in Durbanville, ensuring a full and complex range of flavours. While this is a fruit driven wine, the fresh pyrazines will show off more in the latter part of the year.
