Garnet red in colour. Bouquet suggests berry jam fruit and chocolate topped with a layer of spice. The palate is smooth, rounded and gently sweet ending on a spicy/peppery note.

in the vineyard : This is the first Pinotage made under the Kloovenburg label. This vineyard was planted in 1969 and was one of the first in the Swartland region.

about the harvest: When we harvested the fruit in February, the grapes were harvested at optimum ripeness of 23.5º Balling.

in the cellar : The wine was aged for 6 months in new American Oak barrels. After that we left it in the bottle for another 6 months, before we released it.
