Theuniskraal Riesling 2000

The estates famous flagship is light, crisp and easy drinkable. Best enjoyed young, when the fresh flavours of the variety are pronounced. Rewarding and refreshing on its own, Theuniskraal Riesling is the ideal accompaniment to a wide range of foods, especially seafood, chicken and vegetarian dishes. Chill before serving.

in the vineyard : The Riesling grapes came from vineyards planted from 1981 to 1996 at 240 metres above sea level. The vines are trellised and were planted on south facing slopes. Normal climatic conditions were experienced during the 2000 vintage.

about the harvest: The grapes were picked by hand and by machine at 20,5 to 22Â° Balling from 05:00 until 12:00 on 17 to 23 February.

in the cellar : In the cellar the juice received no skin contact. It fermented cold at 14Â°C for 14 to 21 days. The wines from the different vineyards were vinified separately and the best batches were used to blend the 2000 Riesling.
