in the vineyard : The perfect Bordeaux blend is a lot like the perfect s'more: a complete contradiction. It has to be toasty but smooth, fluffy but crunchy, and bold but elegant. Achieving this balance requires drinking a lot of wine: we test scores of different blends to hit the bull's eye.

Planted in 1998 on the Northwestern slopes of the Simonsberg in well-drained Duplex soil containing granite.
about the harvest: Harvested at 24° Balling with an average yield of 6 tons/ha.

in the cellar : 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot, fermented dry on skins. 14 months in 30% new medium-toast French oak.
