Anthonij Rupert Cape of Good Hope Basson Pinotage 2008

Cinnamon and clove spice are the top notes to a sweet plum and raspberry bouquet. Fun fizzpop note too. Tangy entry with gentle red fruit - plum and raspberry again - tempered by the spicy flavours on the palate. Not heavy, grippy or intense but not lacking in complexity either. Agreeably light and buoyantly delicate throughout. Tannins are silky but tensile with an almond and clove nuance on the aftertaste.

After fermentation the wine was drained off the skins and underwent malolactic fermentation in cement tanks. The wine was aged in 2nd an 3rd fill French oak barrels for 14 months. The wines are bottle aged for 24 months.
