Weltevrede Ouma se Wyn 2010

Bright golden colour. Fragrances of citrus blossoms, litchis and honey. Honey and citrus are predominant on the palate. It is full sweet, but finishes with a beautiful elegance.

in the vineyard : This must be the only wine in the world named after a person who never drank a drop of wine. Ouma se Wyn is named after my grandmother, the daughter-in-law of my great-grandfather who founded Weltevrede in 1912. Experience handed down from generation to generation is used to craft this wine in the way it was done in the old days. The Picture on the label is that of my grandmother.

about the harvest: Muscat de Frontignan grapes from old vines are picked fully ripe at 25 degrees Balling.

in the cellar : During overnight cold skin contact natural fermentation may commence, but early the next morning the free run juice is drained and fortified with neutral wine spiritus. The wine is matured until the fruit aromas and spirits marry before release.
