The Chardonnay grapes came from vineyards in Stellenbosch, planted at 160 to 190 metres above sea level in yellow, brown Clovelly soil with a high gravel content, and deep, red Hutton soil. The vines are trellised and were planted from 1981 to 1993.
about the harvest: The Semillon grapes were picked by hand at 21,5°Balling during mid March. The Chardonnay was picked by hand at 22,1°Balling from February 18 until March 9.
