Hutton Ridge Pinotage 2000

Sparkling ruby red with a purple rim, typical of young Pinotage flavours complex plum and fruitcake well integrated with soft wood with a lingering aftertaste. An ideal accompaniment to lunchtime barbeques and rare beef.

ageing : Ready to drink now, but will benefit from another year in the bottle.
in the vineyard : Trellised vines with supplementary irrigation. Production 10 ton per hectare.
about the harvest: The grapes were harvested early in February at 26º Balling.
in the cellar : Fermented on skins until enough flavour and colour were extracted to obtain more complexity and integration, malolactic fermentation was completed on chips. After extended contact wine was racked, filtered and bottled.
