Nitida Pinotage 2012

Wondering through Aladdin’s market on a dusty warm summer day. Enchanting sweet violets, blueberry and raspberry fruit mingles with wafting smoked pine shavings and a smorgasbord of white spice.

A dead cert with dessert, waterblommetjie bredie or cinnamon sweet potato.

ageing : Drink now and over the next 5 years.

in the vineyard :
5 rows bought in from one of our neighbours, which meant we could keep a close eye on them and ensure that leaf plucking began in early December. This allows more sun exposure to the bunches which gives that lovely ripe fruit and will carry through to the wine.

in the cellar :
Always a tricky wine to make as you need to press at exactly the right time to avoid potential bitterness & over extraction, which leads to stewed fruit & ‘porty’ flavours. Again more pinot noir in style making it very accessible with or without food. This wine is showing beautiful balance between fruit and wood.

Wood: 4 months, 100% French
