in the vineyard : The Shiraz grapes came from the Bottelary and Durbanville areas, planted at a 100 to 200 metres above sea level from 1974 to 1992. The vines were cultivated under dryland conditions. The Pinotage vineyards are situated in the Helderberg and Bottelary Hills area at altitudes ranging from 50 to 120 metres above sea level. The vines grow as bush vines and were planted from 1969 to 1986. The Ruby Cabernet grapes came from the Riebeeck West and Worcester areas. The trellised vineyards were planted at 170 to 190 metres above sea level between 1982 and 1994.

about the harvest: The grapes were picked by hand at an average sugar level of 23.5ºBalling.

in the cellar : The juice fermented at 28ºC for 8 days. After malolactic fermentation it was matured in second and third fill casks for 2 months. The blend consists of 30% Shiraz, 30% Pinotage and 40% Ruby Cabernet.
