in the vineyard : Purportedly planted in 1655 by Jan van Riebeek, Chenin Blanc is one of the first four wine grapes planted in at the Cape and is still South Africa’s most planted wine grape variety. This humble grape can produce a myriad of wine styles ranging from zesty fruit forward table wines, complex barrel matured and incredibly long-lived white wines, fulsome blends, superb sparkling wines and even luscious noble late harvest dessert wines. The Boplaas Limited Release Chenin Blanc is very much in the fresh, fruity and versatile style of Chenin.

in the cellar : Fruit for this Limited Release wine originates from a selection of Chenin blocks grown on a combination of soils surrounding Agter-Paarl and the Voor-Paardeberg wards. All fruit was harvested in the cool early morning hours, crushed and gently pressed, cold fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve optimal aromatics and flavours. The wine was bottled after a short period of lees contact to embolden the flavour profile.
