An appealing blend made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for everyday drinking with ample inherent qualities. Generously weighted on the palate with well integrated oak and soft tannins supporting the delicate fruit flavor.

in the vineyard : Organically grown on a 4-extended Perold wire trellised system with drip irrigation. The soil is sustainably managed with a rotation of different cover crops,vetches and organic mulching to stimulate healthy soil microbe activity. Strict pruning and green leaf management, and suckering essential for pest and disease control and optimal shading of the grapes during the ripening the fruit.
in the cellar : During alcoholic fermentation frequent pump- overs were done on the must. This was done to ensure good colour and tannin extraction to enhance the length and mouth feel of the wine.
The components for Le Piquet are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes which were selected from separate vineyards. The wines were made and barrel aged separately. The best suited juice was then chosen for the blend. The Cabernet Sauvignon forms the backbone with the elegance and flair of Merlot creating new fruitiness. Aged in 2nd and 3rd fill barrels for 12 months.
