Bellingham Homestead Pinotage 2014

Sight: Intense dark red middle with a ruby red rim.
Nose: Sweet spices, plums and mulberries with hints of vanilla.
Mouth: Ripe and juicy Raspberry, strawberry and black cherry flavours supported by well-integrated oak spice and an exciting tannin structure.

Rosemary and Elderberry roasted leg of lamb, venison, spare ribs with a rich barbecue sauce, oxtail or osso buco.

The 2014 vintage - a very cold and wet winter with enough water accumulating in the soils. A later start to harvest followed by a dry February. Good colour and tannin formation for the reds.

in the vineyard : Terroir: The Mountainous terrain and diversity of terroirs are key contributors to making this a premier viticultural area with granite and soils.
Climate: The vineyards are on altitudes above 200m and open to the cool south westerly summer breezes originating in False Bay.

about the harvest: Grapes were handpicked late February.

in the cellar : Berry were sorted before a slow fermentation on the skins, punch downs for colour extraction coaxes depth of colour and flavour before malolactic fermentation and maturation took place in barrels.
