At l’Agulhas, Africa’s southernmost village, the seas are treacherous and the shores notorious for their shipwrecks. Inland from this dramatic coastline lie the Ghost Corner vineyards, in the Elim ward. Thanks to the strong breezes from the cool Atlantic Ocean, Elim is the coolest wine-producing area in South Africa. This allows David Nieuwoudt to craft wines of great concentration and complexity at Cederberg Private Cellar. The cool maritime climate of Elim expresses elegant aromas of green fig, nettles and dusty dry fynbos with a distinctive minerality. The fermentation in French oak has added complexity and length with smokey bacon nuances. A well-balanced wine with a crisp acidity.
Ideal with fresh seafood, or on its own.
