Spring came early, but subsequent very cold and rainy weather conditions in November badly affected the budding of the grapes. Cool December conditions resulted in a later than expected start to the vintage. Shortly thereafter temperatures soared and sugar levels rose, producing very healthy, plump ripe berries, resulting in some truly impressive wines of this still underrated variety in the Cape.
